About Us

Founded in Rajasthan, in 1930, we - The Rajsoni Jewellers - pride for being the only family to get nine national awards. We are in Limca Book of World Record -2011.Our ancestor, Shri Nathu Lal Soni, was the first goldsmith to initiate this art in 1707. It soon caught the fancy of kings and princes: resultantly, Maharaja Sumant Singh patronized this art in 1765 and gave a Jagir to the family of Shri Nathu Lal Soni along with conferring the title of Rajsoni on him.

The Legacy Of Thewa Art
It is not possible to put down the majesty of Thewa Art in a few words. The Thewa Art is a Creative imagination of fusing colored Gems with 23-K Gold and multi colored glass. The glass is treated by a special process to have glittering effects, which, in turn, highlights the intricate gold work. The whole Thewa piece is handcrafted over a period of one month by skilled artisans. Five-centuries-old art history and heritage of Thewa art is now poised to make a record, with our family is the bastion of preserving this art Thewa art.

This craft flourished especially during the Victorian times when a number of pieces set in gold were sold to British women, living in India. These pieces were taken to Europe as souvenirs. Somehow the pieces found their way to the British antique market, and the work was recognized by European Jewelry Historians for its distinction. Some pieces about 250 years old can still be seen in the collection of Queen Elizabeth (London Museum).

In the days of royal patronage our filmily, Raj Soni sought to enhance the art in not just Pratapgarh (Rajasthan), but also in the entire world. The exquisite and unique art of Thewa got recognition from the Government of India as a postage stamp was issued in the year 2004. Adding to its laurels, the art has won nine National Awards since 1966.

How We Create Magnificence
Our selection of Products has been appreciated around the world for its fine work. The amount of work, time and skill going into handcrafting each of the marvelous pieces of Products accounts for a major part of their Price. We use a Patterned Metal Sheet that is pure 23ct. gold. To create the pierced work design, several blank foil sheets, somewhat longer than the final, result, are fixed side by side one after the other on a working surface- a board covered with a layer of lac. The Lac is warmed and the metal is pressed lightly onto it for creating a piece that steals heart.
